MozBar Feature Access Levels

This guide outlines the account level required to access specific MozBar features. You can use it to explore which account level is right for you and how it will impact your MozBar use. MozBar is a free browser extension available for download from the Chrome Store and Firefox Add-ons. Once you’ve downloaded and installed the extension, the features you can access will depend on your account subscription level.

There are three levels of access available for MozBar:
Login-free access (requires no login or moz.subscriai.com account)
Community account access (requires a free moz.subscriai.com Community account)
MozBar Premium access (requires a Moz Pro free trial or paid subscription)

You can log into MozBar at any time via the Settings tab of the extension.

*Limited access to the metrics bar and Link Metrics tab includes Domain Authority, Page Authority, and page-level link counts.
**Limited access to SERP Overlay includes access to Domain Authority and Page Authority only.

Query limits for specific areas of MozBar are based on your access and subscription level. 

Ranking Keywords

The Ranking Keywords section of MozBar uses a different query limit from the rest of the tool. This limit is based on your subscription level in Moz Pro.

Pro Tip! We cache the results for each analyzed URL for 48 hours. This way, if you continue to visit the same URL, you won’t continue to use additional queries. You can always choose to refresh the data of a MozBar section using the refresh icon on the top right.

All other query-limited features

Outside of Ranking Keywords, all other features in MozBar that require the use of queries share the same query limit. This limit is based on your access level:

Queries are used each time a metric or feature (like Domain Overview) is activated. For example, when MozBar is active, a page visit will use 2 queries — one for Domain and Page Authority and one for Brand Authority.

Pro Tip! We cache the results for each analyzed URL for 48 hours. This way, if you continue to visit the same URL, you won’t continue to use additional queries. You can always choose to refresh the data of a MozBar section using the refresh icon on the top right.

The query counts here account for the new features and metrics that were not previously available in MozBar. You can now do even more research on the go!

You can limit the number of queries used while MozBar is active by adding sites you don’t want metrics for to your Excluded Domains list. 

To gain full access to all MozBar has to offer, MozBar Premium is required. MozBar Premium is included with all Moz Pro free trials and paid subscriptions.
